Breathe London Communities Connects in White City
The Breathe London Communities team enjoyed a busy and engaging two days at the Where Great Ideas Grow event held recently at Imperial College London’s White City Campus. The event brought together people from across the campus and surrounding area to celebrate ideas, innovation and collaboration. It provided an opportunity for visitors to discover more about the scientific research happening on campus, meet organisations and community groups, and share information on issues that affect local people.
Using Breathe London Communities air quality sensors and an eye-catching AWAIR device, the team successfully connected with many visitors from across the campus and local area. These included schoolchildren, workers, White City residents, and Imperial staff and students. Conversations were varied and included the impact of pollution on health, the diverse range of pollution sources, and how communities can better understand and respond to local pollution issues. Many highlighted how informative the discussions were, particularly as air pollution is an issue that is not always well understood, and shared some of their own lived experiences.
As Breathe London Communities is a community-focussed network, Where Great Ideas Grow provided an invaluable opportunity to raise awareness, answer questions, and engage with a diverse local audience.
